5 Minutes With... Ready in Led

Ready in LED is a new electronic project from Kyiv (Ukraine) by singer and sound producer Olya Dibrova. Classical music theorist, vintage analog synths enthusiast.

The ‘Unreal’ EP features a wide range of disco. From NYC garage inspired ‘TMO’, to the highly sensual ‘Feel’. The main disco bangers are ‘Whatever’ and the super mega - 'Only Tonight', surely a Harvey future classic that’ll have you reaching for the sky and looking up at the Disco ball.

The four original cuts are treated to some killer remixes from a star-studded line up that kicks off with a monstrous banger from Gerd Janson. The Running Back boss delivers a prime- time bomb with shades of New Order throughout. Norwegian Disco don Prins Thomas, goes full on synth cascades and percussion with live bass and cowbells on his dancefloor deadly Diskomiks of ‘Only Tonight’. Music For Dreams boss man Kenneth Bager applies his beautiful Balearic touch to a more downtempo version of ‘Feel’. Lovelock tackles ‘TMO’ and goes in the direction of epic space funk, adding live drums and guitar strings. This is New York musician Steve Moore (Kompakt) in his solo synth-disco project moniker. All four originals are included for your listening pleasure. They were recorded in 2020 at the Kiev studio, Artreform Records. The mixing engineer is no less than New York’s Justin van der Volgen.

Check out some of the tracks below and see what he had to say when we caught up with her...

1. Give us the lowdown on this release...

I wrote this music last year dreaming of the parties we miss so much. I am interested in unlimited space, I try not to read the news and spend more time in the studio. I found some good thoughts and wanted to share them.

2. If you had to pick one, what would be your biggest career highlight to date?

I have played many concerts in the main squares of the largest cities of Ukraine, but I think that the biggest project I have done is the futuristic video novel Unreal | The Movie based on my debut EP.

3. If we were allowed to be out partying, what current records would you be playing out at every set?

4. What's coming up next for you?

I'm waiting for the vaccine first, I hope it will be Moderna and it will inspire me to write a modern disco track. Joking! It will be a couple of singles and the first live show here in Kiev. Write a lot, practice a lot with the Lumatone Keyboard.

5. If you could spend 5 minutes with anyone, who would it be and why?

I would talk to Isao Tomita about his incredible ability to create new sounds and show us new colors of Debussy's music.
