5 Minutes With... OOFT!
Glasgow’s Ali Herron has long been a mark of quality with his OOFT! moniker. With excursions onto labels such as Instruments of Rapture, Delusions of Grandeur and Wolf Music Ali’s steady stream of solid output moves deftly between slo-mo disco and classic house influences. It’s the latter style that infects his Clandestino EP.
Check out our premiere of Reclaim Landscape (Clandestino Remix) what he had to say when we grabbed '5 Minutes With' him...
1. Give us the lowdown on this release…
It's a 4-track EP from me exploring some synthy takes on deep house. There's a bit of 80s house, some slo-mo, and some bigger dancefloor-focussed numbers. There's also 2 nice remixes by Clandestino, with the Beach mix a particular highlight.
2. What's your best career moment to date, aside from this interview?
Hmmm, hard to pick an individual moment but running in to my 6th year as resident at The Berkeley Suite in Glasgow has been absolutely ace. Getting to play alongside so many heroes on that sound system reminds me every time why I got in to this whole thing in the first place.
3. What track is doing the business for you right now if you were playing out?
I'm pretty sure this would be doing the damage if we were running as normal...
4. Where can we find you in the upcoming months?
Erm, probably sitting in my house waiting for Corona virus to fuck off. Whilst we're still unable to dance properly together I'll be running weekly live-streams from my studio every Friday at 5-7pm via my Facebook and YouTube pages.
5. If you could spend '5 Minutes With…' anyone, who would it be and why...?
Now there's a question... I'm sure Quincy Jones would have a couple of good stories to tell but I'd need more than 5 minutes for all the nerdy production tips.
