5 Minutes With... LIS SARROCA

Berlin label Aterral (headed up by Carlo), welcomes yet another name to the roster that is out to keep contemporary House music at its most exciting.

Barcelona scenester Lis Sarroca has had previous outings on Hot Haus, Shall Not Fade and Mobilee. Citing her influences as Larry heard, Roman Flugel and Craig Richards, her productions have attracted support from Lee Burridge, The Blessed Madonna, and Axel Boman.

Lis Sarroca clearly has her own unique style and sound. On the ‘Chamomile EP’, this highly competent DJ and producer condenses her definition of club music into two feelgood heaters. Both cuts are as energy driven and groove laden as they are emotively charged and riddled with cunning detail work.

Check out some of the music below and see what she had to say when we caught up with her...

1. Give us the lowdown on this release...

I got to know about Carlo back in 2016 on his label at that time, Neovinyl Records. I moved that year to Barcelona in search of the local deep house. It was last year that we connected, and he asked if I wanted to be part of his new project, Aterral Records, it was something really exciting for me, I’m a big fan. We finally met in person last October on a trip I did to Berlin, for then we already had agreed the release of the EP. So it was really nice to grab a coffee together to celebrate and get to know each other a bit more. He’s such a great guy and an amazing artist. I’ve been enjoying and learning a lot from him, I am thankful to be collaborating with this brand new family.

The tracks on this EP are defined as classic and contemporary deep house tracks. ´Chamomile’ the lead cut captures warm harmonies and fat beat grooves. Carlo adds his version and puts some emphasis on the deep and playful qualities of the original production. On ‘Off Road´ 909 vibes take control, with old-school stabs and emotive pads driving you to a warm and pleasant place.

2. If you had to pick one, what would be your biggest career highlight to date?

As a producer I would say my release last year with Hot Haus Recs. All four tracks differ in vibes, but all together make a clear statement and definition of what my music is.

3. If we were allowed to be out partying, what current records would you be playing out at every set?

4. What's coming up next for you?

My next EP will come out on Shall Not Fade...

5. If you could spend 5 minutes with anyone, who would it be and why?

Definitely my mom, we haven’t seen each other since December 2019!!!
