5 Minutes With... COSMONECTION

There are few artists capable of mixing balearic and deep-house universes, tinged with a touch of jazz. Cosmonection however, is one of them. Behind the spatial pseudonym of this Parisian producer hides an overflowing energy and a multi-faceted music, as rhythmic as aerial, influenced by the sounds of Detroit retro-futurism house sounds and Balearic universe.

His next EP is out now on Pont Neuf. See what he had to say when we spent 5 Minutes With him...

1. Give us the lowdown on this release…

This EP is sort of a logical sequel to my previous EPs Menorca and Venezia in which I use a lot more organic material than I usually do. We recorded all the percussions with my friend Sébastien Petit at Sodasound Studios as I really wanted to create a sunny and dreamy atmosphere for this new EP.

2. If you had to pick one, what would be your biggest career highlight to date?

I still have quite a young career at the moment, but if I had to choose one moment, it’d be my last gig in Barcelona for Elrow during the Pont Neuf Records’ 4th year tour. We were almost all together just before the pandemic, and it was a great moment of communion with a very festive public, and above all a moment of incredible fraternity with all my family label. It is exactly for these kinds of moments that I have always wanted to share my work as a producer and DJ.

3. If we were allowed to be out partying, what current records would you be playout out every set?

4. What’s coming up next for you?

At the moment I’m really focus on this new EP on Pont Neuf that I’m really proud of. It’s been great to work on this new project as we decided to make my first music video for “Carnaval”, so I discovered a new way of working and creating things with my music. I have to make a huge shout out to Kendy Ty, who directed this video, and to Cecilia Martinez, who both made great work to illustrate Talamanca’s vibes. Up next, I have other projects to come at the end of the year and at the beginning of 2021, but you’ll see more of these in due course!

5. If you could spend '5 Minutes With…' anyone, who would it be and why...?

Without any hesitation Quincy Jones. He’s always been my number 1 inspiration in music. His career and his thousand lives have always fascinated me.
