5 Minutes With... CARLO

In some shape or form, we've covered all of Aterral's releases to date, simply because they're all top-shelf stuff.

Next up on the label is the man himself, kingpin Carlo. 'Mediterraneo' is a four to the floor affair with four original cuts, each one making you fantasize about sweaty clubs and jam-packed dancefloors. This release sees Carlo continuing to find a balance of style and freshness whilst remaining true to the deep house genre. It’s full of subtle details which showcase Carlo’s obsession with nuanced sound-design, the ultimate goal, to make the party groove.

Check out some of the tracks below and see what he had to say when we caught up with him...

1. Give us the lowdown on this release...

Since the pandemic started I've been trying to find my own sound and these four tracks represent my vision of house music on 2021. This is how I want the label to sound and how I want the world to identify Carlo with. Also as I did not have the chance of visiting my hometown and my family since the lock down I wanted to pay a small tribute to the sea that saw me growing and every track has a sort of relation with the smells, the tastes and the people from Malaga.

2. If you had to pick one, what would be your biggest career highlight to date?

This is a no brainer for me. I'll go for the night I played almost 8 hours at IPSE. This was a huge party with Folamour, Demuja and Dan Shake in the bill. I was deejaying for 6 hours at the outside area and when they closed this floor I went to the warehouse were the party was still on. The the dj from inside was tired and asked me if I wanted to keep playing... and of course I did! I played for 2 hours more until the club was closed. I love long sets and this night the energy was really special and club was packed. I will never forget this night. You can listen to the 6 hours set in my soundcloud!

3. If we were allowed to be out partying, what current records would you be playing out at every set?

4. What's coming up next for you?

Right now I have a couple of upcoming records on Honey Butter and Shall Not Fade and then I would like to focus on my first album. That’s basically 2021 for me.

5. If you could spend 5 minutes with anyone, who would it be and why?

That's a hard one but I'll always choose my grandma. We had a very special relation and she trusted me no matter what with music. I'd love to tell her how far I got since she isn't here anymore.
